There were some issues concerning U by Kotex Click Tampons that needed clarification. So to learn more about U, I consulted them…
Dear Kotexers,
You sent an auto response when I emailed last November. It said, “Due to an increased interest in our products, your personalized response may not be delivered as quickly as we would like.” Now that it’s been more than two months, it’s nowhere near as quickly as I would like!
Percentage-wise, how much more interest has there been in your products that I still haven’t received an answer? The Contact ID # you sent was <ID number>. Are you less busy now so I can get an answer this time? Here’s what I wanted to know…
Dear Feminine Hygiene Period Protection Product Producers:
I’m not a tampon user, mainly because I’m a man. However, I know lots of women who use them.
Since I’m into organic products, does Kotex manufacture organic tampons? If your tampons aren’t organic and only protect vaginal environments rather than our surrounding environment, what are they made of … and what makes them as vagina environmentally friendly as an organic tampon?
I read that many products such as tampons are bleached with chlorine to disinfect and whiten them. Chlorine is fine for pools, and while many women are attracted to pool boys, chlorine bleach has no place in vaginas and should not be allowed to pollute them. Does Kotex use Chlorine on its tampons, and if not, how do you whiten and disinfect them?
On another note, I play a lot of sports and guys are always taking an elbow to the nose. If someone gets a bloody nose, will inserting a small Kotex tampon into the nostril effectively absorb the blood while protecting the inner nose? I read that many tampons are made from a naturally, more breathable fiber — and breathable sounds like it would be good when it comes to noses as well as vaginas also in need of some fresh air. Would it be a smart idea to keep a Kotex tampon or two in my gym bag for emergencies such as this? People do seem to bleed around me a lot.
Keep making fine products that protect the environment, vaginas and possibly noses!
A Consumer Services Representative responded with:
Thanks for your e-mail about U by KOTEX CLICK® tampons.
All fluff pulps which are used in manufacturing Kimberly-Clark feminine protection products are bleached using chlorine dioxide. The chlorine dioxide is consumed during the bleaching process and does not remain in the pulp. You may be interested to know that chlorine dioxide is also used in bleaching flour and purifying water. Kimberly-Clark uses this process to enhance the environmental compatibility of our products and manufacturing operations.
We would not recommend using a tampon for a nose injury.
Thanks again for your e-mail.
Final Thoughts: There U have it: Make sure to only put U by Kotex in U vagina and not U nose. Nevertheless, the problem remains. Everyone has a nose. But not everyone has a vagina. Yet even though most men want a vagina more than anything else in the world, they don’t want one with a tampon in it. So there are many reasons why men shouldn’t be sticking their noses into the business of tampons or sticking tampons into the business of their noses. If you think this all sounds somewhat silly or immature, try reading Alfred Kinsey and Masters & Johnson.
On the second email attempt, Kimberly-Clark responded back the same day. They also provided helpful information regarding bleaching using chlorine dioxide. I’m glad chlorine dioxide doesn’t remain in the pulp because if you can keep it out of the pulp, you can keep it out of the vulva and labia. As a guy, I’m just grateful to be getting all the pulp I need from orange juice. Although, Kotex was right, it was interesting to learn that chlorine dioxide is used in bleaching flour and purifying water. Now I’m eliminating them from my diet because knowing that is giving me a funny taste in my mouth.
