It’s bad enough that itches make you itch. To make things worse, even when you scratch them they not only come back, they often show up someplace else. I went on an itch hunt to find out why, beginning with the manufacturers of Gold Bond Anti-Itch Lotion…
Dear Itch Specialists:
It’s very cool that Gold Bond Anti-Itch Lotion is known as “the quick fix for every itch.” In order to fight itches, you must also know how itches start. Can you tell me? Have you ever noticed that once you start thinking about itches you start to feel itchy all over? Why is that? I’m practically typing with one hand while I scratch all the itches I’m getting since I started writing. I feel like I’m being bitten all over by an army of invisible mosquitoes! Seriously, I must have scratched 84 itches in the last 3 minutes. Is this letter making you itchy?
In the past, when I’ve had an annoying itch I’ve used Calamine Lotion. To be honest, not that I’ve been lying up until now, I really don’t care for the big pink blotches Calamine Lotion leaves after you apply it. What color is Gold Bond Anti-Itch Lotion and how does it differ from Calamine Lotion? What’s in your lotion that empowers it to fight off itching? It seems that scraping a fingernail over a piece of skin should satisfy an itch, but it doesn’t. How does your lotion manage to scratch beneath the surface?
Itching to hear your reply. No, that wasn’t a pun. I really am.

Final Thoughts: Chattem did a fine job promoting the benefits and ingredients of Gold Bond Anti-Itch Lotion. Unfortunately, as for insights into itches, they left me scratching my head. That led to itching in other areas, some of which I can’t even mention. Plus, just thinking about itches has made me so itchy that I might need to dive into a tub filled with Anti-Itch Lotion before I end up scratching myself silly. Even squirming around on my back on the carpet like my poodle used to do isn’t helping.
It’s a good thing Anti-Itch Lotion exists. Before that, I believe the main treatment option was sandpaper. Itches from a condition are one thing, but there’s also those pesky psychological invisible itches that surface throughout the day. I did some additional research and here’s what I found out about itches and itching.
It was sympathetic of Chattem to enclose two “Valuable” $1.00 coupons to “Save on Any Size or Type Of Gold Bond.” Although under that it says: “excludes 1 oz. and 2.7 oz.,” so it’s really not any size. Right now I’m scraping one of them across my foot over four mosquito bites from last night to hold me over until I can get to the store.
If you’re not for itching, consider Gold Bond Anti-Itch Lotion from Chattem. However, when you have questions about a product that are getting under your skin, you might find relief if you Write The Company.
