Falling for Ann Taylor

Clothing & Accessories

Posted by WriteTheCompany.com

After witnessing an accident involving my wife and Ann Taylor, I submitted this report to the Ann Taylor Corporate Offices…

Dear Ann:

My wife purchased one of your black business suits with blue pinstripes, which she looked totally hot wearing. And then this happened…

We were in New York. While crossing Broadway and 57th, her spiked heel got caught in the pant cuff and down she goes. No one likes to fall flat on their face on Broadway, but if you’re going down, you might as well go down in style.

Her shins are scraped. Both knees are bleeding. Skin is peeling off. It was like they were filming Ann Taylor Meets Road Kill. Only there wasn’t one single mark, scratch or scuff on her pants! What in the world kind of fabric do you make your suits from? It’s indestructible! Did you also create Superman’s outfit? Forget making clothes, you should be trying to figure out how to make skin grafts.

On one hand, my wife would not have fallen in the first place if the cuff didn’t catch on her heel. Why do you think that happened? Yet on the other hand, I doubt that even your quality testing procedures are nearly as severe as the one she put your suit through. So tell anyone who gets into your pants that they’re safe!

Who needs a tailor when you have Ann?

An Assistant Manager from Ann Taylor responded with:

Thank you for your letter. Your feedback was received by our Corporate Offices and I would like to provide you with our response.

We were sorry to hear of the unfortunate experience your wife had while wearing her Ann Taylor Suiting pieces. We appreciate you sharing your concerns and will promptly forward to our Merchant Team for additional review and future consideration.

In the meantime, I have enclosed with this letter a special offer from our Corporate Offices for your wife on one future store purchase. This discount card will not expire until December 31st, 2009 and can be redeemed at any Ann Taylor, LOFT, Ann Taylor Factory or LOFT Outlet store. (Redemption Guidelines can be reviewed on the back of each card)

Thank you again for contacting us directly. We love to hear from our loyal clients and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

Final Thoughts: Thankfully, my wife made a full recovery. I’m not sure that can be said for the customers who saw her bloody knees in the restaurant waiting area we went into for ice. In case you’re wondering, the discount card is for 25% Off the entire purchase. No word on how or why the material of those pants survived the streets of New York completely unscathed.

Ladies, this story clearly proves that what you wear when you hit the road is very important. In case you’re in the market for protective clothing, you might find something stylish at Ann Taylor. And whether you’re a man or a woman, if any product ever brings you down to your knees, you should definitely Write The Company.

I am very disappointed with Ann Taylor. I purchased clothing (two sweaters) at the end of January only to have them fall apart within two months. I explained the situation to the manager at the store and they said all they could give me was 10 dollars per sweater because that is what they are worth now. You got that right! They are worth nothing. It really bothers me that the store does not stand behind its merchandise. I called corporate and the person I spoke to was sympathetic to my situation and was going to call me back the next day and get me a gift certificate, of course I never heard from that person. I called corporate again today and was told I could receive 10 dollars per sweater or I could get 20% off my next purchase and free shipping, that hardly makes up for it. I told them to forget it and that I would NEVER shop in Ann Taylor again. If you are going to charge a lot of money for your clothing you should stand behind your merchandise and when something like this happens to a customer who has been shopping in your store for years stand behind them as well… So long Ann Taylor I’m off to shop in another clothing store!
