There’s a commercial that cracks me up every time I see it. That’s what inspired this letter to Windex…
Dear Window Cleaners:
I love your Windex commercial where the crows ring the door bell to get the owner of the house to go inside from the backyard … and then close the sliding glass door … just to watch him crash into it when he returns because it’s so Windex clean. Hilarious!
There’s someone I would like to do that to. What kind of crows did you have to train to pull that off … and where can I get a couple? Are the crows from Wisconsin where your company is based? They must be smarter than Florida crows, because the only kind of crows we’re famous for here are crow’s feet.
Also, my wife refuses to do windows and I’m tired of doing them all the time. Do you have any tips for getting a woman to do the kind of windows that aren’t from Microsoft?
A Senior Consumer Representative from SC Johnson, manufacturers of Windex, responded with:
Thank you for sharing how much you enjoy our Windex® Original Glass Cleaner commercial. Your comments are appreciated and be assured they have been forwarded to the appropriate department.
The animated birds you referenced from this commercial are South African Pied Crows. And while I understand a person can tire of cleaning windows, I have a new recommendation for you. I enclosed a complimentary coupon so you may try Windex™ Outdoor All-In-One Glass Cleaning Tool. It, too, will provide a streak free shine in half the time!
Again, thank you for your letter because we value your business. Please feel free to reach out to us again with future needs or questions.
Final Thoughts: It’s refreshing to find a brand like Windex with a sense of humor. The Free Coupon for up to $15.25 on one Windex® Outdoor All-In-One Starter was also a terrific customer service touch. Plus, no matter how many times you watch the commercial, it’s always good for a laugh…
If you enjoyed that, here’s another crow’s commercial from Windex. And if a business or brand gives you something to crow about, make sure to Write The Company.

so many people can’t understand at the end of the latest windex commercials, where the crows say, Wayne…..Wayne….gotcha. I don’t get it…….what does Wayne mean in this?

Carol, usually I Write The Company, but for you I called to get their official explanation. The customer service representative hadn’t seen the commercial. She checked with someone else. They didn’t know either — they weren’t informed about the thinking behind the commercials their advertising agency comes up with.
The commercial is called “Messtrix,” so there may not be an answer. Even in the movie, The Matrix, they say, “Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.” Looks like Wayne may be trying to pull the wool over his friend’s eyes to blind him from the truth. Did he get the dog all wet to set off the Messtrix? Or, are the crows having trouble differentiating between the real world and the dream world in the Windex World?
Here’s the commercial if anyone else wants to weigh in… Messtrix

This commercial drives me nuts too. I get the others but this one makes no sense to me. My family thinks I miss some dialogue at the beginning but there is none between the birds. They should have been left out. Perhaps they made an arrogant leap thinking everyone was enthralled and vested in previous crow commercials.
